Hard Rock Cafe Dubai is located just off the Business Bay Crossing at Festival Centre, Dubai Festival City, one of the city’s premier shopping malls. Just minutes from Dubai International Airport, Dubai Festival City sits on the edge of Dubai Creek on the Deira side of the city. Once a small fishing port, today Dubai is home to the world’s tallest building and many five star resorts and hotels.
In collaboration with Migg Enterprisses we were commissioned to design Dubai Hard Rock Café, set inside the existing mall. The Café was to house, dramatically, the trademark Hard Rock Memorabilia while fulfilling the need to respond to the extreme ceiling height of the site. Also the need of a direct entrance from the road level to the second floor of the mall led us to the construction of the “Pod”, an extension that includes the Rockshop, the reception and the vertical circulation for the link with the café. The design response was inspired primarily by the industrial nature of the site. The challenge for us however, was to infuse into this, the Hard Rock brand in new and innovative ways. The internal spaces are segregated into important zones like bar – cafe, stage, retail and lounge, zones that are further split on various levels. The segregation of these zones was important as the Café had to work equally well as an all-day family restaurant, as a high energy bar lounge and as a prime venue for live bands to perform. Hard Rock Café Dubai offers over 2900 square meters of space and features two Rock Shops®, a stage for live performances, a private VIP function room, a separate lounge, and a beautiful outdoor terrace. Whether looking to enjoy a romantic cocktail, or party with friends, we created a spot for everyone.
